Google Ads pricing guide

What Google Ads really costs a dental clinic in Canada

There is no national price for a Google Ads click. Google sets each price in a live auction, so the cost depends on where your clinic is, which services you promote and how many other clinics are bidding.

This guide shows why, with estimated costs for four Canadian markets and a budget estimator. Our own fee is simple: a fixed $500 CAD per month to manage your campaigns. Your ad budget goes directly to Google.

All cost-per-click figures on this page are planning estimates as of November 2026, not guaranteed prices.

How Google decides what a click costs

Every time someone searches, Google runs a quick auction among the advertisers who want to appear. It ranks the ads using each advertiser's bid together with the quality and relevance of the ad and the page it leads to. You pay only when someone clicks, and you usually pay less than your maximum bid: just enough to keep your position ahead of the next advertiser. That amount is your actual cost per click.

Location

Each click is priced in a local auction. In a dense downtown core, more clinics usually bid on the same searches than in a smaller city, which tends to push prices up.

Competition

The more dental clinics bidding on the same keyword, the more it can cost to win the auction. A new competitor entering your area can raise prices; one leaving can lower them.

The service you promote

Dental implants, Invisalign, cosmetic, emergency and general dentistry all have different click prices. Higher-value treatments usually attract higher bids.

Search demand

Popular searches attract more advertisers, so auctions for them are often more competitive. Less common searches can be cheaper but bring fewer visitors.

What the searcher wants

Someone searching “dental implants Toronto” is likely comparing clinics. Someone searching “what are dental implants?” is usually still researching. Ready-to-book searches tend to cost more.

Ad quality and relevance

Google does not simply sell the top spot to the highest bidder. It also weighs how relevant and useful your ad and landing page are, and the context of each search. A higher bid alone does not guarantee the top position or more patients.

Time and change

Prices move through the year and as competitors start or stop advertising. A cost per click measured today can be different next month.

Four Canadian markets compared

The same five services, estimated in downtown Toronto, downtown Calgary, downtown Winnipeg and Lethbridge. The pattern matters more than any single number: bigger, busier markets and higher-value treatments tend to cost more per click.

Why location matters

Even two clinics in the same city can pay different prices, because they target different neighbourhoods, services and patients. Four typical situations:

Downtown Toronto

A clinic may compete with many nearby practices for the same implant and cosmetic searches, so clicks for those services can be among the most expensive in the country.

Downtown Calgary

A clinic may face strong competition for some services, such as implants, while other searches, like general check-ups, cost noticeably less.

Downtown Winnipeg

A clinic may find a different competitive picture, with many clicks costing less than in Toronto or Calgary for the same service.

Lethbridge

A clinic may face fewer competing advertisers and lower click prices, but fewer people search there, so there is a natural limit to how many clicks a budget can buy.

A cheaper click is not automatically better

A $30 click from someone ready to book an implant consultation can be worth far more than ten $3 clicks from people who were only curious. What matters is the cost of each real enquiry and booked patient, not the cost of the click.

Clicks are visits to your website, not calls, bookings or new patients. Estimates use Dentx.ca's planning ranges (November 2026), not live Google data: your actual cost per click is set by Google's auction and can be higher or lower. No number of clicks, calls or patients is guaranteed.

What Dentx.ca charges

Two separate costs. Never mixed together.

Paid to Dentx.ca

$500 CAD / month

A fixed fee to manage your Google Ads campaigns, the same with any plan or on its own, and the same whatever your ad budget. No markup and no percentage of your ad spend. Landing pages are not included.

Paid to Google

Your ad budget

Your ad budget is set by you and paid directly to Google. We can't responsibly predict it without knowing your location, the services you want to promote and your goals, because Google prices each click in a live auction and costs vary by city, service and competition. We recommend a starting budget after a short call, and you can change it at any time.

Important

  • Google Ads costs are set in competitive auctions and vary by keyword, location, competition, ad quality and market conditions.
  • Every cost-per-click range, click estimate and budget on this page is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed result. Actual performance depends on campaign setup, search demand, competition, your landing page and other factors.
  • Dentx.ca does not control Google's auction and does not guarantee any number of clicks, leads, calls, appointments or new patients.

How these estimates were made

These are Dentx.ca's planning estimates as of November 2026, in Canadian dollars. They start from typical cost-per-click ranges by dental service and are adjusted for the size and competitiveness of each market. They are not Google Keyword Planner output and not results from live campaigns, and we update them as prices change.

For reference, the median cost per click for dentists and dental services was $8.00 USD in WordStream/LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks (13,474 US search campaigns, April 2025 to March 2026). Individual keywords sit well above or below that median.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Google Ads click cost for a dental clinic in Canada?

It depends on your city, the service and your competition. Our planning estimates (November 2026) range from about $2 to $6 per click for general dentistry in Lethbridge up to about $15 to $45 for dental implants in downtown Toronto. These are estimates, not Google's own figures, and actual prices change often.

Why don't you publish a fixed Google Ads budget?

Because the right budget depends on your location, the services you want to promote and your goals. The same budget buys very different numbers of clicks in downtown Toronto and in Lethbridge. We recommend a starting budget after a short call, and you can change it at any time.

Is the $500 management fee part of my ad budget?

No. They are two separate costs. Your ad budget is paid directly to Google from your own account. Dentx.ca charges a fixed $500 CAD per month to manage the campaigns, the same whatever your budget, with no markup on your ad spend.

Are these cost-per-click figures Google's own numbers?

No. They are Dentx.ca's planning estimates, built from typical ranges by dental service and adjusted for market size. Google sets each click's price in a live auction, so your actual cost per click can be higher or lower.

Is a cheaper click always better?

No. A more expensive click can be worth it if it brings a patient ready to book, and cheap clicks can still produce poor results. What matters is the cost of each real enquiry and booked patient, which your own records show.

Do more clicks mean more new patients?

Not automatically. A click is a visit to your website. Whether it becomes a call, a booking and a new patient depends on your website, your offer and how quickly your team responds. No one can guarantee a number of clicks, calls or patients.
